NOTE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Year in Review Newsletter
Hello Friends,
On behalf of The World Baseball Academy, we hope everyone has enjoyed this Holiday Season!
As the New Year approaches, it gives all of us the opportunity to reflect back on what has taken place and look forward to what lies ahead.
For the WBA, this was a year of transition that brought with it one of the most rewarding years in our young organization's life.
In 2010, we experienced a tremendous growth in our baseball development programming with the addition of our Director of Player Development, Ken Jones. The indoor operations witnessed our most successful year to date with over forty (40) area teams and organizations able to utilize the ASH Centre Fieldhouse for their training and game play needs. Of course, we must highlight the success that took place through the initial launch of the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) pilot program of Fort Wayne.
The World Baseball Academy leadership has put in numerous hours, energy, and effort behind the scenes to help bring together the right organizations to provide an outreach program for at-risk youth in the Fort Wayne community. However, we are not content with simply having a "baseball program." The RBI program, hosted by the WBA, is focused much more on using baseball as a platform to develop relationships with at-risk youth so that we can better help serve the family and educational needs of these young people. Our desire is to come along side families and other organizations like The Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Wildcat, FCA, and The Euell Wilson Center to help encourage young people as their realize and recognize their dreams.
The launch of the RBI Program is a monumental moment for our organization to begin developing this program into a true support for young people throughout our community.
We have strategically structured our entire local operations around being able to help stabilize the RBI initiative to insure its long term sustainability and impact.
The World Baseball Academy simply could not have accomplished all of the success stories we witnessed in 2010 without the support of our collaborative partners, donors, and volunteers!
Thank you for your willingness to serve others and help strengthen our community as we move forward together in helping develop our next generation of leaders!
Happy New Years,
Caleb Kimmel, Executive Director
