LEADERSHIP Beyond The Game

Eric Wedge Baseball Camps 2005-2019

  • 15 years

  • 1000+ volunteers

  • 4000+ campers

  • Life messages & baseball lessons

  • Developing future leaders

Fort Wayne native Eric Wedge hosted the Eric Wedge Baseball Camps at the ASH Centre for 15 years in partnership with WBA, and helped develop the Beyond the Game Leadership Luncheon. Over the 15 years of their existence, the annual Eric Wedge Baseball Camps served thousands of young baseball players with baseball skills training and lessons for life on and off the playing field. Eric Wedge donated his time to lead the camps. In May, 2019, Wedge was named Head Baseball Coach at his college alma mater, Wichita State University. While his role is now more limited, Eric Wedge remains a true friend of WBA as he continues his baseball leadership career:

With my new job at Wichita State, the combination of College Baseball scheduling and NCAA regulations, I am required to step away from two events which have been very important to me over the years: the long running Eric Wedge Baseball Camp and the more recent Wedge Foundation Leadership Luncheon.
I am pleased that the Leadership Luncheon, that honors and encourages student athlete leaders will continue. Thanks to the WBA and that event's organizing committee for all they have done to make it a success.

I am proud of the 15-year history of the baseball camps. I offer a sincere thank you to the WBA and others for all the hours of hard work they have put in to make them hap-pen. The WBA is a difference making organization and I will always be supportive of their mission.

A special thank you goes to all the campers and student athletes who have participated in these events, as well as to the parents, coaches and others who support them. The opportunity to engage and interact with these young people has been a privilege.

Fort Wayne was and continues to be a great city, and I am now considering other ways to stay active in my hometown.
