Tim Petersen was born and raised in Fort Wayne IN. He played baseball in the Fort Wayne Little League system in his younger years where he developed his core understanding of the game and what it means to have a good coach that teaches the game, as well as focusing on developing good character in his players. During Tim’s high school days he played baseball at Elmhurst High school where he learned some of his coaching philosophy from Coach Derbyshire, a philosophy that Tim still uses today.

Tim Petersen’s baseball coaching career spans over 30 years. He has coached Little League teams, all-star teams, and travel teams. He has been an assistant high school coach, head high school coach, and has been an international instructor.

Tim Petersen was an Air Technician and Traditional Guardsman at the local Air National Guard for almost thirty years. In 2006 he was injured In Iraq and was retired and medically discharged. Upon his discharge he returned to College to earn his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. As a counselor he worked with at risk youth to help them prepare to be successful in life.

Tim Petersen was hired in 2013 to be the WBA’s On Deck Instructor in a part-time capacity. With his training and passion for kids who oftentimes are underserved, he is a great fit for the WBA’s mission of using baseball to develop kids who will impact our world in a positive way. Because of the continued growth of the Scholarship Program, Tim is now serving full-time at the WBA.
